Advanced In-Person & Online Pranayama Classes & Courses

Pranayama as the Hatha Yoga Pradipika teaches it: the central practice of classical yoga, regulating vital energy through controlled breath. The bridge between physical practice and meditation that most contemporary yoga ignores entirely.

"As long as the breath moves, the mind remains restless. When the breath is stilled, the mind becomes still, and the yogi attains steadiness." — Hatha Yoga Pradipika

Pranayama as the Hatha Yoga Pradipika teaches it doesn’t end at the foundational techniques. Those are the requirements — the technical competence needed before the practice does what it was actually designed to do: still the breath long enough to still the mind.

Where the beginner course builds correct technique in isolation, advanced pranayama is where those techniques start working together — retention, internal locks, and extended ratios combining to produce the states that isolated breathing exercises never reach on their own. This is the practice the classical texts actually spend most of their pages on. The beginner techniques are the doorway. This is the room.

Every technique here assumes correct, settled competence in Kapalabhati, Nadi Shodhana, and Ujjayi. If any of those still require conscious effort to execute correctly, this course will build on an unstable foundation — and the instruction here won’t have room to correct basic technique while also teaching retention.

In-Person

1 on 1. In-person correction. Retention and bandha work depend on real-time observation in a way foundational technique doesn’t — a read on how your system is actually responding to retention before it’s pushed further. Held in structured sessions, so each stage of progression has time to settle before the next is introduced.

Best for: those in or traveling to India who want direct instruction and can commit to a regular in-person schedule.

Online

The same curriculum, restructured for distance — 1 on 1 teaching, technique breakdowns, and live sessions where your retention and bandha work is actually observed and corrected in real time, not self-assessed from a video. Progression through retention stages is paced individually rather than delivered as a fixed script.

Best for: practitioners outside India, or anyone who wants to begin now rather than wait for a flight.
